Google's airfare search function launched

Google launched its airfare search function on 13-Sep-2011, in the newly opened "flights" section of Google.com. Google's flights section (google.com/flights) includes a US map showing the round-trip cost to fly between city pairs, with an outline of airlines operating on the sector and the timing and fares of the services.

Google announced its intention to acquire ITA Software in Jul-2010 through a USD676 million purchase, with the acquisition approved by the Department of Justice in Apr-2011.
