GoAir notes 'good spurt' in domestic India traffic

GoAir MD Jeh Wadia, in the Sep-2016 edition of the carrier's in-flight magazine go-getter, stated (Sep-2016) the domestic aviation sector continues to see "good spurt in traffic and is poised for exciting times". India, currently the fastest-growing civil aviation market in the world, reported yet another month of double-digit growth in passenger volumes in July-2016. Domestic air passenger traffic jumped by nearly 26% in Jul-2016, registering growth for the 24th consecutive month. Mr Wadia said growth trends indicate that travel demand remained strong as more people have been travelling by air. He also noted that during Jul-2016, the carrier "consolidated our market share during the month". He also noted some network changes at the carrier, explaining: "Our airline business model, since inception, has been to focus on growth and connectivity of metro and non-metro markets. We have now added daily direct flights from Delhi to Jaipur and have increased frequency on Delhi- Lucknow sector. We have also added connections via Delhi for Guwahati-Jaipur, Mumbai-Lucknow and Jaipur-Pune sectors". [more - inflight magazine]
