GECAS: Second lease aircraft represent major opportunity for airlines

GECAS product strategy VP Damien Trottier, speaking at the CAPA LCCs in North Asia Summit, stated (12-Jun-2018) although "some airlines are not too keen on getting used assets", GECAS believes second lease aircraft represent a substantial opportunity for airlines, including LCCs. Mr Trottier said the economic benefits of second lease aircraft outweigh higher maintenance and fuel costs associated with operating older aircraft. He said the fact that South Korea's LCCs have much more mature fleets than Japan's LCCs but don't necessarily have higher operating costs demonstrates the viability of a second lease aircraft strategy.
