Flybe claims best UK example of "hybrid" model

Flybe CCO, Mike Rutter, stated the carrier is currently the best example in the UK of a "hybrid" model carrier, in between the LCC and full service model (Travel Trade Gazette, 11-Feb-2010). Mr Rutter added he understood why British Airways may be considering dropping its short-haul Business class.

Flybe: "We planned a strategy to become the first and most successful model of hybrid services. Legacy carriers that take a gradual approach, like simply removing the curtain separating Business Class, will miss out. The hybrid business model is where consumer direction has gone. Some legacy carriers still think they can provide short-haul travel as a kind of premium service, but they must shake that off," Mike Rutter, CCO. Source: Travel Trade Gazette, 11-Feb-2010.
