FedEx to handle 17 million shipments on busiest day in 40 years

FedEx expects (09-Dec-2011) 12-Dec-2011 to be its busiest day in 40 years as the company forecasts approximately 17 million shipments, almost double its daily average volume, throughout its global networks on that day. The company's "busiest day" volumes and network capacity has jumped nearly 75% since Christmas 2005:

  • 12-Dec-2005: 9.8 million shipments;
  • 18-Dec-2006: 10.6 million shipments;
  • 17-Dec-2007: 11.5 million shipments;
  • 15-Dec-2008: 12.0 million shipments;
  • 14-Dec-2009: 14.2 million shipments;
  • 13-Dec-2010: 15.6 million shipments. [more - original PR]
