FAA stop work orders nearing USD11 billion in projects

US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced as of 29-Jul-2011 it has issued full and partial stop work orders for 219 contracts and projects, totaling USD10.9 billion. The FAA's funding authorisation expired on 22-Jul-2011, forcing it to furlough 4000 workers and begin halting airport and air traffic management programmes.
