European Commission opens in-depth investigation into Aegean Airlines-Olympic Air acquisition

European Commission opened (23-Apr-2013) an in-depth investigation into Aegean Airlines' proposed acquisition of Olympic Air. The Commission stated it has concerns the acquisition may lead to price increases and poorer service "on several domestic Greek routes out of Athens, where the merged entity would have a monopoly or an otherwise strong market position."
