EU allocates EUR750m to Polish rail modernisation works
Poland's Ministry of Infrastructure and Development (MIB) announced (16-Feb-2017) the European Commission approved EUR750 million in financing for Polish rail works, under the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment 2014-2020. MIB plans to invest the funds in modernisation of the Lublin, Otwock, Parczew and Warsaw rail lines, which will, "Significantly shorten the travel time between Warsaw and Lublin". The upgrades will facilitate a speed limit increase for passenger trains to 160km/h and freight trains to 120km/h. [more - original PR - Polish]
