Etihad Airways: protectionism in Europe and US is a threat to consumers

Etihad Airways president and CEO James Hogan said (26-Mar-2015) growing protectionism among five "giant legacy airlines" in Europe and the US poses a threat to, "the millions of travellers benefiting from new choice in the global air travel market". Mr Hogan admitted the legacy carriers lost market share to Etihad Airways, but argued greater competition stimulates the market. Mr Hogan said, "more people are able to travel - more consumers are getting the benefits of competitive choice... In almost every case, competition increases the size of the market".
