Ethiopian Airlines transports 87% of total freight of African carriers

African Airlines Association (AFRAA) reported Ethiopian Airlines transported 38,384 tonnes (87%) of the total 44,225 tonnes freight carried by African airlines in 2009 (New Business Ethiopia, 22-Nov-2010). Approximately 560,000 tonnes of freight was recorded in 2009 from the 22 carriers that provided data, a 3% increase from 2008. 74% of the total amount is carried by EgyptAir, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways and South African Airways.
