Ethiopian Airlines sets Johannesburg and Beijing as first 787 routes

Ethiopian Airlines CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said the carrier plans to use its first Boeing 787 on services from Addis Ababa to Johannesburg and Beijing, according to Business Today reports. Ethiopian Airlines will be the first airline in Africa to operate the 787. Delivery is due in Aug-2012, with another four to follow in 2013. Ethiopian Airlines has orders for 10 787s. Mr Gebremariam said the carrier is in the midpoint of Brazil, India and Africa and needs to take advantage of its geographic position and grow its market "in order to survive".
