ERA had previously called for a revision of EU261 to address what it described as an "unsustainable burden" on regional airlines, including proposals for delay thresholds, compensation levels, and clarity on extraordinary circumstances. ERA director general Montserrat Barriga warned that unchecked financial pressures could lead to route closures and reduced competitiveness for regional carriers, impacting connectivity and passenger choice1.
