Emirates Airline president Tim Clark repeatedly flagged 777X schedule uncertainty and linked it to costly fleet-plan changes, including retaining and refurbishing existing 777s and extending A380 operations into the 2030s.1 2 3 Sir Tim said 777-9 certification could have been completed in May/Jun-2026 “under normal circumstances”, but FAA resourcing extended approval timelines, while delivery expectations shifted to 2Q2027.4 5 6 Emirates also grew its 777X commitment, ordering 65 more 777-9s and 130 GE9X engines, and discussed potential larger 777X and A350 variants for eventual A380 replacement.6 7
