Emirates confirmed it took delivery of its 10th A380 on 05-Jun-2010. The aircraft is the seventh A380 to be delivered by Airbus and the 30th in all (Reuters, 05-Jun-2010). Airbus confirmed it is maintaining its delivery target of 20 A380s this year. Airbus also denied French media reports that it recently signed an order with Emirates for 12 additional A380s and 18 options.

The global commercial aircraft fleet grew by 4% in 2016 and the year ended with an order backlog of more than nine years of production. The data indicate that total worldwide deliveries fell in 2016, the first such decline for six years, as a result of delays to new aircraft programmes. Boeing delivered more aircraft than Airbus for the fifth straight year, but its deliveries fell short of its 2015 level, while Airbus increased its numbers year-on-year. Total deliveries will likely rise again in 2017, but this may prove to be a peak year.

Emirates' 12-Mar-2017 launch of service will undoubtedly add to the list of complaints from the big three US airlines – American, Delta and United.
The list of potential protective targets is growing as the new Administration settles in: renewing the fight against Gulf fifth freedoms while pursuing a blockage of DOT's grant of a permit to Norwegian Air International; Gulf airlines in their home market; and unfair access in China.
It is difficult to see the US airlines winning all of their claims. At worst, their mounting complaints will result in the details being lost as the new administration under Trump eyes indisputable wins with infrastructure and non aviation transportation matters. The loudest voices may be ignored until there is a full government in place to wade through the complainers.
