Embraer in talks with Indian carriers

Embraer Asia Pacific MD Alex Glock stated the manufacturer is in talks with "several companies" in India who are "evaluating our aircraft" (Dow Jones, 15-Feb-2011). Embraer is targetting India as a potential market for its 50-seater ERJ 145 jet, as well as the 70 to 122-seater E-Jet family of regional jets, as the nation's airlines seek to connect smaller cities across the nation. Only one Indian carrier - Paramount Airways - operates Embraer aircraft.

Embraer: "India is still not well served, so there still exists lot of potential in this market. It is certainly a very good market for 75 to 100-seater jets. The market that is growing the most is not really the metro cities, but the category two and category three markets, which have about 27 million passengers annually and they are growing at the rate of 18% a year. With smaller aircraft, you can have more frequencies, instead of using bigger aircraft," Alex Glock, MD. Source: Dow Jones, 15-Feb-2011.
