easyJet to open Porto base in spring 2015

easyJet announced (15-Jul-2014) plans to open its 25th base at Portugal's Porto Francisco de Sá Carneiro Airport in spring 2015 with two A320s, the carrier's second base in the country after Lisbon. easyJet expects the new base will create 80 pilot and cabin crew positions. The carrier has operated in Portugal since 1999, and carried more than 3.8 million passengers over the past 12 months. easyJet country director of Portugal & Spain Javier Gandara said: "We are delighted to announce a second Portuguese base from spring 2015 which will connect the North of Portugal with Europe. This represents a key growth factor for the local economy with the creation of more choice for business and leisure travellers alike at affordable prices and a high standard of service."
