easyJet to open permanent base in Lisbon

easyJet announced (18-Oct-2010) plans to open a permanent base in Lisbon with the carrier expecting to grow passenger numbers at the airport from 1.5 million to up to 2.5 million p/a and add up to 10 new destinations. This will be in addition to the carrier's existing 10 destinations from the airport. The base will be the airline's 20th with easyjet already the second largest airline in Portugal. Representing an investment of up to EUR300 million, the base will open during the 2011 winter season with a capacity of up to seven A319 aircraft. As a result, potentially 2,000 direct and indirect jobs are expected to be created in the region. [more]
