Ryanair: Alicante growth - 3 new AC, 7 new routes

02-Dec-2009 Ryanair announced today (1st Dec) that, from March 2010, it will base three new aircraft (9 in total), open 7 new routes (56 in total), and deliver 3m passengers p.a. at its Alicante base which will sustain 3,000 local jobs. Ryanair will deliver over 500 weekly flights to/from Alicante in an investment of over $600 million at the airport

The new routes to Altenburg, Krakow, Seville, Smaland (Vaxjo), Stockholm (Vasteras), Valladolid and Venice (Treviso) and increased frequencies on 9 routes will deliver more low fares, competition and choice to even more Spanish consumers and visitors. Recently introduced routes to Eindhoven and Frankfurt (Hahn) will also continue to operate next summer.

Ryanair celebrated these three new aircraft, routes and frequencies at Alicante by releasing 250,000 €5 Christmas seats for travel across 500 of its European routes which are available for booking on www.ryanair.com until midnight Thurs (3rd Dec).

Speaking in Alicante, Ryanair's Michael O'Leary said:
