ANA to raise fuel surcharge on international cargo

Direct News Source

07-Sep-2009 ANA today applied to Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) to revise its surcharge on international cargo shipments from October 1, 2009.

The cargo fuel surcharge is fixed for one month and revised on the basis of the average price of jet fuel for the month immediately preceding the announcement of the next revision, if any. The next surcharge will thus be set according to the average price of jet fuel for the month of August - as reported by the US Department of Energy - and come into effect on October 1. As jet fuel averaged of US$78.8 per barrel in that month. ANA regrets that it must continue to ask its valued customers to share the burden of fuel costs, in spite of its own ongoing efforts to control costs and increase revenues.
