The US Department of Transportation issued a final order to terminate the Delta-Aeromexico joint cooperation agreement effective 01-Jan-2026, a move Delta claimed would harm US jobs, communities, and consumers travelling between the US and Mexico, while it reviewed the order and considered its next steps1. IATA regional VP for the Americas Peter Cerdá previously urged the DoT to extend the termination deadline, warning of detrimental effects on connectivity and potential route eliminations2.
