Delta Air Lines to suspend New York JFK-Athens service, leaves Athens with no trans-Atlantic service

Delta Air Lines plans to suspend daily New York JFK-Athens service in winter 2012/2013, as per a 30-Apr-2012 GDS inventory display - see Route Changes Table for more information. The cancellations will be effective from 28-Oct-2012 through 23-Mar-2013. The carrier is the sole operator on the route at present, according to Innovata, with the cancellation leaving Athens with no trans-Atlantic service in winter 2012/2013. This marks the first time there will be no trans-Atlantic service to the Greek capital in nearly 70 years.
