Delta Air Lines launching new routes, sees USD60 mln impact from storms

Delta Air Lines, at the JPMorgan Aviation, Transportation & Defense Conference on 09-Mar-2010, announced the following details regarding its operations (Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, 09-Mar-2010):

  • Network: Will launch additional international routes in 2010 such as Atlanta-Paris, Detroit-Frankfurt, JFK-Athens, JFK-Tel Aviv and Memphis-Amsterdam;
  • February Storms: Impact expected to be a loss of USD60 million for 1Q2010;
  • System Capacity for 1Q2010:
    • Domestic: Down 2-3%;
    • International: Down 7-8%;
  • Northwest Merger: Remaining Northwest aircraft must be rebranded. Open employee representation for flight attendants and airport workers must also be resolved;
  • System Load Factors: Mar-2010 and Apr-2010 system load factors expected to be 84% and 82%, respectively. [more]
