Continental pilots call on carrier to consider labour force in merger

Continental Airlines pilots called on the carrier at its latest shareholder meeting to heed to labour rights in its planned merger with United Airlines (Houston Chronicle, 09-Jun-2010). Air Line Pilots Association Chairman, Jay Pierce, stated the carriers must make a commitment to labour that they will "share in the rewards" in order for the tir-up to be successful. Continental has been in contract negotiations with its pilots for three years.
