Continental and United defend proposed merger

United Airlines CEO, Glenn Tilton, and Continental Airlines CEO, Jeff Smisek, defended the proposed merger of the carriers on 17-Jun-2010 during a hearing of the US Senate Commerce Committee after House Transportation Committee Chairman James Oberstar's plan to push for the re-regulation of the airline industry if the Justice Department approves the proposed merger (Dow Jones, 16-Jun-2010).
