Chicago O'Hare Airport reports the largest traffic decline in May-2009

US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) stated (13-Aug-2009) Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport was the largest US airport in May-2009, ranked by total system (domestic and international) passenger enplanements on US airlines.

Chicago O'Hare International Airport registered the largest year-on-year decline at -13.0%. Details include:

  • Atlanta: 3.6 million, -2.1% year-on-year;
  • Chicago O'Hare: 2.5 million, -13.0%;
  • Dallas/Ft Worth: 2.2 million, -5.9%;
  • Denver: 2.0 million, -5.7%;
  • Los Angeles: 1.8 million, -7.9%;
  • Las Vegas: 1.6 million, -10.1%;
  • Phoenix: 1.6 million, -8.5%;
  • Houston Bush: 1.5 million, -12.0%;
  • Charlotte: 1.5 million, -1.7%;
  • New York JFK: 1.4 million, -4.8%.
