Cebu Pacific: 10% of Philippine nationals live overseas

Cebu Pacific commercial planning VP and Cebgo president and CEO Alexander Lao, speaking at the CAPA LCCs in North Asia Summit, stated (12-Jun-2018) approximately 10% of the population of the Philippines lives overseas. Mr Lao said when Cebu Pacific launched, it targeted markets where large groups of Philippines nationals are known to reside, including the Middle East and Australia. He added that the LCC suspended services to Middle East destinations including Doha and Riyadh in part because Filipinos living in these destinations were largely workers, while destinations including Sydney and Dubai offered both business and leisure demand.
