Cabin crew at Air Algeria strike; delays caused at main airport

Air Algeria's striking cabin crew are causing delays at Algiers Boumediene Airport (AFP, 13-Jul-2011). The employees are striking for an increase in pay of 106%, which the carrier's CEO Mohamed Salah Coultif stated is not possible considering the company's current financial condition. The CEO instead agreed to a 20% increase. One hundred and forty six of the scheduled 186 services at the airport have reportedly been cancelled since 11-Jul-2011. Some services scheduled to depart on 13-Jul-2011 have been cancelled as well.
