The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia previously introduced a high intensity runway operation procedure at Kuala Lumpur International Airport to boost runway capacity, targeting a 3.7% year-on-year increase in air traffic for 20251. Malaysia Airports has also considered expanding KLIA's infrastructure, including a potential fourth runway and new terminal, to increase hourly aircraft movements from 108 to 154 in the long term2.
