CAAC: China air transport indicators continued rapid growth in 2013 despite 'difficult' conditions

CAAC noted (23-Jun-2014) China's major aviation transport indicators continued to maintain steady and rapid growth in 2013 despite the difficult world economic recovery and the downward pressure on the domestic economy during the year. Total air passenger numbers increased 10.8% year-on-year to 354 million, including a 10.6% increase in domestic passengers to 327.4 million and a 13.7% increase in international passengers to 26.6 million. Passenger traffic on Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan services increased 8.4% to 9.0 million. Cargo volume increased 3.0% to 5.6 million tonnes. Domestic cargo increased 4.7% to 4.1 million tonnes, despite a 4.4% decline in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan cargo traffic to 199,000 tonnes. International cargo fell 1.3% to 1.5 million tonnes.
