British Airways submits planning application to develop sustainable fuels plant

British Airways submitted (20-Aug-2019) a planning application to develop a sustainable fuels plant on a site in Immingham, North East Lincolnshire. The proposed plant will take household and commercial solid waste and convert it into clean burning sustainable aviation fuel, reducing net greenhouse gases by 70% compared to the fossil fuel equivalent. The plant will be jointly developed with Altalto Immingham Limited, a subsidiary of renewable fuels company Velocys, and a collaboration with British Airways and Shell. British Airways' parent company IAG will invest USD400 million in alternative sustainable fuel development over the next 20 years. [more - original PR]
