Brazil's ANAC announces 43% decline in average airfare since tariff freedom in 2002

Brazil's ANAC announced (29-Nov-2012) the 43% decline in average airfare in the country since the implementation of tariff freedom in 2002. ANAC noted the real average fare in 2002 was BRL498 (USD237), dropping to BRL282 (USD134) in 2011, and to BRL272 (USD129) in 1H2012. This represents a 43% decline in prices over this period, while available seats increased 138% and demand for air transport increased by over 150%.
