BOC Aviation: Asian airlines in growth stage, but aircraft orders won't arrive as scheduled

BOC Aviation CEO and MD Robert Martin, speaking at the CAPA Asia Aviation Summit, said (15-Nov-2016) there are more airlines in Asia than other consolidated markets and the region is in a growth stage and not undergoing consolidation yet. Mr Martin said investment decisions have already been made in Asia and the challenge will be how to match incoming capacity with the real needs of airlines. Mr Martin said he does not believe the current aircraft order stream for the region will be delivered on the allocated dates. Mr Martin said carriers were positioning for ASEAN Open Skies and there is a "large overhang" of aircraft orders.
