Belgian union may take Ryanair to court

Ryanair may be taken to court by Belgian trade union CNE, which is planning legal action against the LCC for imposing work conditions on cabin crew that it alleges violate Belgian law (RTE, 17-Aug-2011). The unions said it plans to file the suit in Sep-2011 and both Ryanair and Crewlink, which provides part of the LCC's cabin crew, would be involved. Ryanair rejected the claims, saying that its employment contracts must only satisfy Irish law. Crewlink is also an Irish-based company. Ryanair dropped its Marseille base in Jan-2011 to protest a French court's refusal to a drop charges against it for hiring workers on Irish contracts. The French party said the contracts breached French law.
