Belfast City George Best Airport's proposal of application notices outlined a GBP200 million 2040 master plan, including extended passenger facilities, new airfield infrastructure, improved access, extra parking and a potential hotel, with planning applications due later in 2026.1 It also sought changes to its planning agreement, including extending scheduled operations to a 16-hour day and raising annual movements from 48,000 to 61,000.1 The airport previously finalised its master plan, forecasting passenger growth from 2.4 million (2024) to seven million (2040) and movements rising to 61,000, alongside terminal and airfield works and surface transport upgrades.2 It also signed an MoU with Translink to assess options for an enhanced rail link, including a new halt on the Belfast-Bangor line serving expanded terminals.3
