Belfast City George Best Airport previously unveiled a draft master plan 2040 for public consultation until 11-Nov-2025, targeting up to GBP200 million in private investment and proposing an island-first rail connection, alongside net zero ambitions and seeking flexibility for some scheduled flights after 21:30 plus a higher annual movement cap.1 Unite the Union backed the consultation, with Unite general secretary Sharon Graham supporting the rail link and stating expansion would more than double the workforce into "quality, unionised jobs".2
