Beibu Gulf Airlines receives preliminary approval

CAAC announced (30-Jun-2014) its CAAC Central and South Regional Administration has issued preliminary approval to Beibu Gulf Airlines, a regional airline JV by Tianjin Airlines and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group. The start-up will have registered capital of CNY3000 million (USD468.8 million), of which 70% will be invested by Tianjin Airlines and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group to invest the remaining 30%. The carrier is also approved to operate from Nanning Airport, operating domestic cargo and passenger air transportation services, including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan services, as well as international passenger and cargo services to neighbouring countries. The start-up will operate with Embraer 190s. Initially, Tianjin Airlines will supply the start-up with pilots, mechanics, flight dispatchers and cabin crew. [more - original PR - Chinese]
