AVIC expects China's passenger aircraft requirements to nearly quadruple in next 20 years

Aviation Industry Corp of China (AVIC) stated China would require almost 3,796 new passenger aircraft in the next 20 years (to 2028), a nearly quadrupling of the current fleet size (from 1,191 at the end of 2008), due to fast-growing domestic air travel demand (AFP, 24-Sep-2009). China's cargo fleet is expected to increase nearly nine-fold, from 68 to 583 units.
