Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC)
The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) is a diversified state-owned aerospace and defence company, headquartered in Beijing. Established initially under the name of the Bureau of Aviation Industry in 1951, AVIC has today grown to encompass divisions specialising in aircraft manufacture (through the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China), helicopter manufacture, avionics, engine components, aircraft leasing (AVIC International Leasing) defence systems as well as in other non-aviation areas such as heavy machinery and construction. AVIC is also the parent company of Chinese regional carrier, Joy Air. AVIC owns approximately 200 related companies and employs over 400,000 people.
