Avianca Holdings selects United Airlines as strategic partner

Avianca Holdings selected (31-Jan-2017) United Airlines to pursue a strategic partnership, with terms and conditions still to be negotiated. As previously reported by CAPA, the carrier group reportedly received offers from Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and Copa Airlines for a strategic partnership with offers ranging from a USD500 million loan proposed by United, to USD1 billion purchase offered by Delta, and a merger proposed Copa. Delta's offer includes the requirement for the step-down of the Efromovich brothers from the carrier group’s leadership due to the several relations the Efromovich have with other companies.
