Australia's domestic pax numbers up 4% in Jul-2013, capacity (seats) also up 4%

Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (01-Oct-2013) the following traffic highlights for Australian domestic airlines in Jul-2013:

  • Passenger numbers: 5.1 million, +4% year-on-year;
    • Top ten domestic city pairs:
      • Melbourne-Sydney: 723,934, +4.9%;
      • Brisbane-Sydney: 386,496, +2.4%;
      • Brisbane-Melbourne: 286,676, +2.7%;
      • Gold Coast-Sydney: 218,692, +8.6%;
      • Melbourne-Perth: 201,143, +5.5%;
      • Adelaide-Melbourne: 199,000, +12.1%;
      • Perth-Sydney: 155,180, +0.1%;
      • Adelaide-Sydney: 149,178, +1.2%;
      • Gold Coast-Melbourne: 143,975, -8.9%;
      • Brisbane-Cairns: 117,612, +3.5%;
    • Load factor: 78.8%, +0.9 ppt;
      • Melbourne-Sydney: 82%, +6.7 ppts;
      • Brisbane-Sydney: 80.2%, -0.6 ppt;
