Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (21-Mar-2017) the following traffic highlights for Australian domestic airlines in 2016:

• Passenger numbers: 58.9 million, +2.5% year-on-year;

  • Melbourne-Perth: 2.1 million, -3.1%;
  • Gold Coast-Melbourne: 2.0 million, +8.5%;

  • Hobart-Melbourne: 1.6 million, +4.2%;
