Australia reports 8% rise in Sep-2010 domestic pax

Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reports (18-Nov-2010) the following traffic highlights for Australian domestic airlines in Sep-2010:

  • Passenger numbers: 4.7 million, +8.0% year-on-year;
  • Top ten domestic city pairs:
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 660,200, +7.9% year-on-year;
    • Brisbane-Sydney: 376,000, +2%;
    • Brisbane-Melbourne: 284,400, +13.4%;
    • Gold Coast-Sydney: 197,600, +7.4%;
    • Adelaide-Melbourne: 189,400, +15.1%;
    • Gold Coast-Melbourne:164,500, +12.3%;
    • Adelaide-Sydney: 147,400, +7.2%;
    • Melbourne-Perth: 145,400, +1.8%;
    • Perth-Sydney: 139,600, +19%;
    • Brisbane-Cairns: 102,400, +4.8%.
  • Load factor: 81%, -1.3 ppts;
    • Melbourne-Sydney: 84%, +1.1 ppts;
    • Brisbane-Sydney: 83.2%, -0.8 ppt;
    • Brisbane-Melbourne: 85.3%, -4.7 ppts;
    • Gold Coast-Sydney: 85.2%, -0.8 ppt;
