US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) stated (14-Jan-2010) Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport was the largest US airport in Oct-2009, ranked by total system (domestic and international) passenger enplanements on US airlines.

Chicago O’Hare Airport registered the largest year-on-year decline at -5.0%. Details include:

  • Atlanta: 3.6 million, -3.1% year-on-year;
  • Chicago O’Hare: 2.6 million, -4.9%;
  • Dallas/Ft Worth: 2.2 million, -0.4%;
  • Denver: 2.0 million, +0.8%;
  • Los Angeles: 1.8 million, +3.1%;
  • Las Vegas: 1.6 million, -1.5%;
  • Phoenix: 1.5 million, +0.3%;
  • Houston Bush: 1.5 million, stable;
  • Charlotte: 1.5 million, -0.5%;
  • San Francisco: 1.4 million, +5.0%.

Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport was also the largest US airport in Oct-2009, in terms of domestic scheduled enplanements on US airlines. Details include:

  • Atlanta: 3.3 million, -3.1%;
  • Chicago O’Hare: 2.3 million, -5.1%;
  • Dallas/Ft Worth: 2.1 million, -0.8%;
  • Denver: 1.9 million, +1.1%;
  • Los Angeles: 1.7 million, +3.9%;
  • Las Vegas: 1.6 million, -1.3%;
  • Phoenix: 1.5 million, +0.4%;
  • Charlotte: 1.4 million, -0.7%;

Meanwhile, Miami International Airport remained the largest US airport in Oct-2009, ranked by international scheduled enplanements on US airlines. Details include:

  • New York JFK: 352,400, +5.3%;
  • Newark: 297,300, +0.6%;
  • Atlanta: 279,400, -4.0%;
  • Chicago O’Hare: 242,200, -2.3%;
