Association of European Airlines passenger numbers up 1% to 410 million in 2012, cargo down 3%

Association of European Airlines (AEA) announced (05-Aug-2013) the release of its 2013 S.T.A.R report detailing its annual summary of traffic and airlines results, including the following scheduled traffic highlights for 2012:

  • Passenger numbers: 410 million, +1.4% year-on-year;
  • Load factor: 79.2%, highest passenger load factor on record and surpassing the previous record by 1.2 ppt;
  • Cargo volume: -3.1%, reflects the poor economic climate and still performing below its 2008 pre-crisis level;
  • Real passenger yields: -0.6%, now 30% lower than a decade ago.
