Braathens International Airways and Braathens Crew filed for bankruptcy following unsuccessful attempts to secure financing during the phase out of their Airbus fleet, which was linked to agreements with tour operators. Demand from tour operators had been declining since a 2023 reorganisation, and only the Airbus operations were affected, with other Braathens companies and ATR 72-600 services continuing as planned1.
