American Airlines CEO on profit sharing: 'Nothing in exchange for this'

American Airlines CEO Doug Parker, speaking at the CAPA Aviation Summit 2016, stated (12-Apr-2016) the carrier had decided on higher pay rates without profit-sharing, but after talking to employees, found they also wanted profit-sharing. Mr Parker said, "As we talked to the team, they got it analytically" but "you're getting to their brains and not their hearts." He said the lack of profit-sharing had an "unintended consequence" upon relations with employees, who felt American didn't necessarily value their efforts or participation. He said, "After a lot of consideration, the real answer is we listened to our team. No negotiations, nothing in exchange for this."
