American Airlines cannot ignore competitors like Spirit, fare is a factor too compelling to ignore
American Airlines CEO Doug Parker, speaking at the CAPA Aviation Summit 2016, stated (12-Apr-2016) there are a number of airlines the company needs to compete with on fares. "The consumer looks just to the fare and overlooks the product. The fare is such a compelling factor that we can't ignore it." Mr Parker said there are "really good" airlines like Spirit that are doing a good job of enticing passengers with their fares. If American ignores the ultra discounters, it risks losing passengers, he concluded.
