Alaska Air Group and Virgin America agree to extend regulatory review of proposed merger

Alaska Air Group and Virgin America agreed (26-Sep-2016) to extend the regulatory review of their proposed merger, stating the parties will not consummate the acquisition prior to 17-Oct-2017. The parties previously agreed to not close the merger before 30-Sep-2016, with the extension giving the US Department of Justice (DoJ) additional time to review the merger. The two carriers are "confident they will address any concerns and obtain regulatory approval to complete their pro-competition, pro-consumer transaction."
