AirTran revenue jumps 11.8%, operating profit surge 53% in 3Q2010

AirTran revenue jump 11.8% - financial/traffic highlights for the three months ended 30-Sep-2010:

  • Revenue: USD667.9 million, +11.8% year-on-year;
  • Operating costs: USD611.3 million, +9.1%;
    • Fuel: USD211.1 million, +11.0%;
    • Labour: USD130.9 million, +6.5%;
  • Operating profit: USD56.7 million, +53.0%;
  • Net profit: USD36.3 million, +247.8%;
  • Passenger numbers: 6.5 million, +0.1%;
  • Passenger load factor: 84.1%, +0.3 ppt;
  • Average fares: USD92.18, +13.7%;
  • Average aircraft stage length: 767 miles, +2.4%;
  • Average yield: USD 11.43 cents, +11.6%;
  • Revenue per ASM: USD 10.65 cents, +10.0%;
  • Passenger revenue per ASM: USD 9.61 cents, +12.0%;
  • Cost per ASM: USD 9.75 cents, +7.4%;
  • Cost per ASM excl fuel: USD 6.38 cents, +6.3%. [more]

AirTran: "During this period, the company also achieved an all-time record for traffic (revenue passenger miles), and second highest load factor in company history. AirTran Airways also established record setting operational metrics during the quarter, including the highest ever performance in on-time arrivals at 83.4%.
