Airlines for America forecasts 145m pax during spring travel season

Airlines for America (A4A) projected (20-Mar-2017) approximately 145 million passengers will travel globally on US carriers between 01-Mar-2017 and 30-Apr-2017, a 4% year-on-year increase. A4A said airlines are adding 110,000 seats per day across their networks to accommodate the 89,000 additional daily passengers expected to fly during this period. A4A VP and chief economist John Heimlich stated: "While historically low fares, reliable operations and several consecutive years of reinvestment in the product are the primary factors underlying this growth, a boost in US employment and personal incomes and the highest-ever level of household net worth are also fueling the strong demand for air travel".
